Ask our communityA contract phone deal is where you pay a monthly fee to a mobile network (iD Mobile in this case) for your service. Phone contracts are often available as 12-month contracts, 18-month contracts or most commonly 24-month contracts - but can be as long as 36 months. As part of the monthly fee, you get a renewing package of tariff allowances (minutes, texts and data) to use every month and you'll also receive a phone handset. At iD Mobile all of our phone contracts are 24 months long.
Depending on the phone contract there may be an upfront cost to help cover the cost of the phone - but this usually means that you'll pay less each month. In addition, anything you use which doesn't fall within your pay monthly allowance will be added to your next bill.
One of the best things about a mobile contract is that you don't have to pay the full cost of the handset upfront. Some of the latest handsets can cost hundreds of pounds or more. Instead, you pay just the amount on your mobile contract each month and you'll pay off the full amount over the course of your contract.
You also won't have to worry about keeping your phone topped up as you'll get a monthly allowance of data, minutes and texts automatically as part of your contract. It's better value than Pay as you go plus the monthly stress-free Direct Debit payment takes care of everything.
Getting a pay monthly contract often means that you can often pick up a free gift or treat with your phone, especially on the latest releases.
Plus, paying your monthly phone contract on time can also help improve your credit rating too.
If you use mobile contracts for phones, alternatively described as using pay monthly plans, it means you can get the latest handset whilst spreading the cost over the total length of the contract. This is in addition to your monthly allowance of minutes, texts and data to use the way you want.
A SIM Only plan means you'll only get a SIM which allows you to use a certain number of minutes, texts and data each month. It's cheaper than a phone contract but you'll need to already own a phone or buy one separately before you can use it.
Sometimes. If the phone you're after is one of the latest, more expensive models, it's more likely to have a small upfront cost attached to the phone contract. You're also likely to pay a little more each month - but it still works out as a great value option.
Slightly older phones are often available without an upfront cost. They're a great choice of mobile deal if you want to keep the monthly cost a little lower too.
At iD Mobile, all our monthly phone deals are available on contract.

To get one of our contract phones you'll need to pass a small credit check. You'll need to have a relatively good credit score or else you won't be accepted for a monthly phone contract.
You'll also have to be at least 18 years old for this or you could ask an adult to take out the phone contract for you. This means that they'll need to pay the monthly bills and the credit check will be against their name.
If you're buying online your credit or debit card can be used as proof of identity. The billing address for your card and pay monthly phone contract needs to be the same.
You'll need to pass the same credit check as everyone else if you want to sign up to one of our pay monthly phone contracts. If you happen to fail our credit check, we'll send you an email to let you know - plus we'll tell you what other options are available.
We'll try our best to find something different that suits your needs. Please don't try multiple times as doing lots of checks can have a bad effect on your credit rating.
If you’re already with iD Mobile, you’ll be able to check when your current phone contract ends in My Account or on the iD Mobile app. If you’re on any other network, you should be able to get the end date for your phone contract by checking any paperwork you were given when you started your contract with them or by giving them a ring.

The charges you pay will adjust (up or down) in line with changes to the Retail Price Index Rate (RPI Rate) set by the Office of National Statistics. We will adjust charges with effect in your April bill after the RPI Rate is announced for the previous 12 months to February. We will publish the RPI Rate on our website as soon as it becomes available.
