FAQs.

Calling abroad means making a call from the UK to a phone number that is based in another country.

This is different from roaming, which is using your phone while you are travelling outside the UK.

No. International calls made from the UK are not included in your monthly allowance, so you will pay extra. You can save costs when you buy a Call Abroad add-on in the iD Mobile App or my.idmobile.co.uk.

To make an international call, hold the 0 key until you see the plus symbol (+), then enter the country code followed by the phone number.
Example: To call France, dial +33 and then the phone number (without the first 0).

You can also call people you’ve saved by opening your contacts and tapping their name, so there’s no need to dial the full number.

No. If you are in the UK and someone calls you from abroad, you will not be charged for receiving the call.

Yes. Calls to landlines or mobiles in the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man are treated as international calls on iD Mobile, so they are charged separately.

All iD Mobile Pay Monthly customers can buy a Call Abroad add-on. They’re not available on Pay As You Go.

A one-off add-on starts as soon as you buy it and lasts for a full calendar month. It expires at the same time of day it was purchased, one month later.

If you buy it on a date that doesn’t exist in the next month it will expire on the final day of the following month at the same time you purchased it. For example, if you purchased a one-off add-on on 31st March 2026 at 12:58, the add-on will expire on 30th April 2026 at 12:58.

You can check the add-on expiry details in the iD Mobile app or at my.idmobile.co.uk.

Auto-renew add-ons renew automatically every month at 00:00. Your renewal happens at midnight on the same date the next month.

If that date doesn’t exist in the next month, the renewal takes place at midnight on the final day of the month. For example, if you purchased an auto-renewing add-on on 31st March 2026 at 12:58, the add-on would expire on 30th April 2026 at 00:00. Every renewal gives you a fresh full month of minutes.

You can check the expiry details in the iD Mobile app or at my.idmobile.co.uk.

No. Call Abroad add-ons only cover calls to international numbers from the UK. If you’re abroad, your standard roaming rules and charges apply.

No. Call Abroad add-ons include calls to standard landline and mobile numbers only. Premium numbers are always charged at out-of-plan rates.

Yes. You can buy multiple one-off add-ons:

  • One-off add-ons: You can buy as many one-off add-ons as you need.
  • Auto-renew add-ons: You can have one auto-renew add-on at any given time.

No. One-off add-ons can’t be cancelled once purchased.

If you call a country that isn’t included in your add-on, you’ll be charged our standard international rate (subject to your bill cap). Find our international calling rates here. Calls to included countries will always use your allowance. Other out-of-plan charges may still apply.

No. Minutes expire at the end of your add-on’s monthly period. If you need more, you can buy another one-off add-on anytime – it will start straight away and lasts 30 days.

If auto-renew is turned on, your add-on will renew later, so you may have two active add-ons at the same time.

You can check your real-time allowance in the iD Mobile app or in my.idmobile.co.uk. We’ll also send SMS alerts at 80% and 100% of your usage.

If you purchase multiple Call Abroad add-ons, and call a country that is included in both, the below prioritisation will come into effect:

EU & Global add-ons Active

  • If a country is included in both the EU and Global add-ons, usage will be depleted from the EU add-on first.

EU & World add-ons Active

  • If a country is included in both the EU and World add-ons, usage will be depleted from the EU add-on first.

Global & World add-ons Active

  • If a country is included in both the Global and World add-ons, usage will be depleted from the Global add-on first.

Example Scenario:

  • You purchase a World add-on on 15th March 2026.
  • You purchase an EU add-on on 23rd March 2026.
  • A call is made to France (present in both add-ons) on 24 March 2026. According to the hierarchy outlined above, usage will be deducted from the EU add-on first, even though the World add-on was purchased earlier.
