What is the difference between a refurbished and a brand new phone?

What is the difference between a refurbished and a second hand phone?
All refurbished phones from iD Mobile are professionally tested, checked and refreshed to ensure they’re in full working order. All refurbished phones come with a 12-month warranty, so you've got peace of mind. With a second hand or 'used' phone, this is not guaranteed.
What is in the box of a refurbished phone?
Refurbished phones will arrive in a neat, shiny box, not the original manufacturer's packaging. It will not contain the manufacturers manual or user guide, but you will be supplied with a cable and SIM removal tool.
Are refurbished phones covered by a warranty?
Yes. All refurbished phones come with a 12-month warranty, so you've got peace of mind.
Does refurbished mean the phone was faulty?
