The Consumer Price Index measures the overall change in consumer prices over time based on a representative basket of household goods and services. The CPI rate is published by the Office of National Statistics.

CPI FAQs

Why is iD adjusting prices?

Every year, most networks adjust their prices for customers as inflation rises. Historically, iD Mobile has implemented the lowest average price adjustments compared to the major networks (EE, Three, O2 and Vodafone).

We appreciate that price adjustments are of concern to consumers and are never welcome. However, inflationary pressure is hitting us all – both as consumers and as businesses, and the cost to operate and sustain our value-focused and highly reliable network is increasing.

Even with annual price adjustments, we always work to deliver value-focused offerings that will help us remain one of the most competitive in the market. Our aim is to continue delivering great service and features to our customers, such as data rollover, UK’s fastest 5G at no extra cost and free Roaming destinations.

Why has iD added +3.9% in addition to CPI?

The cost to operate and sustain a value-focused and highly reliable network is increasing. From our cost of supply with manufacturers, maintaining and developing the network infrastructure, and even the small but critical things – like delivering items to customers. The additional 3.9% will allow us to continue to invest in and improve our network and services.

What happens if CPI is negative?

In the unlikely event that CPI is negative, we would not factor the negative value in our calculations, and your plan will simply increase by 3.9%.

What if I have a discount on my monthly plan?

If you have a discount, it won't change. The price adjustment is applied to your original monthly plan cost, and your discount is applied afterwards.

What happens if I upgrade to another plan?

If you upgrade to another phone plan on or after 15th January 2025, it’ll fall under our fixed-price increase. This means your monthly price will increase by £1.50 from your April bill each year. For more information, visit our price increase page.

Can I cancel my iD plan?

We’d love for you to stay but yes, you can cancel your plan by giving us 30 days' notice. An early termination fee may apply if you cancel before your contract ends, so make sure to check your contract start date in the iD Mobile app (click on Plan > expand the contract details section).

Alternatively, text INFO DDMMYY (DDMMYY should be your date of birth, for example, 30th October 1999 would be 301099), to 85075 for an estimate for your final bill. You can also switch to another network provider, for details visit our switching page.

How can I check my bill?

The CPI +3.9% adjustment will appear on your April bill. To view your latest bill, sign into the free iD Mobile App or visit My Account online, then go to 'Billing', 'Current month'.
