Design

In keeping with the latest round of flagship smartphones, the Honor Magic 7 Pro has ditched its previously curvy’ feel for a boxier design, with straighter edges. Both the front and rear panels are flat and symmetrical, with thin bevelled edges and only slightly curved corners giving the phone an elegant, expansive feel. Colourways on offer enhance the elevated feel of the Magic series’ design, available in Lunar Shadow Grey – a misty, cloud-like grey – and sleek block colours like Breeze Blue and Black, housed behind a matte glass finish.

Display

The display on the Honor Magic 7 pro is simply stunning. It boasts a 6.8-inch OLED screen with the aforementioned thin bezels making the screen feel deeply immersive. Paired with 5,000 nits peak brightness and a quick, reactive 120Hz refresh rate, games and videos feel lifelike and bold, almost jumping off the screen.

The display is covered with NanoCrystal Shield glass, making it highly scratch-resistant and reportedly 10 times more drop-resistant than standard glass.

Performance

Powered by Qualcomm’s latest chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Elite, it should come as no surprise that the Honor Magic 7 Pro performs beautifully. Running on Magic OS 9 - a customised version of Android 15 – actions feel seamless with very little lag, moving from screen to screen effortlessly. While Magic OS 9 might seem a little different to regular Android users at first glance, the layout feels intuitive, with additional AI functionality helping you discover tools and features quickly and easily.

Storing as many games and apps as you need is a breeze, too. The handset includes 12GB RAM and 512GB of storage, which should be plenty of space for the majority of users to enjoy.

Honor’s new security features are also worth shouting about. The display hosts a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor and a pill-shaped cutout housing a 3D face unlock camera - the first phone to offer both. Face Unlock is especially useful for everything from logging into banking apps securely to sending a quick text, giving the larger cutout some extra heft on your home screen.

AI integrations

Honor’s new integration with Google means Gemini AI is now the handset’s default voice assistant, as well as the driver behind the Magic 7 Pro’s vast range of AI-powered tools. There’s a whole suite of features hidden under the hood, including excellent image editing tools, an AI translator, and note formatting and transcription capabilities.

One feature we particularly enjoy is Magic Portal, which lets you quickly share or search by selecting text or an image on your screen and dragging it into another app. Increased sensitivity means you now can pick items by circling them with your knuckle, a nice touch that makes this feature easier and more accessible to use.

Considerable thought has gone into using AI to lessen the impact of the handset on your health, too, mimicking natural light to make for more comfortable viewing. While health features aren’t new to the Honor series, the screen’s innovative circular polarization layer was launched alongside the Magic 7 Pro, and reduces reflections and eye fatigue by up to 18%.

Battery

At first glance, the Magic 7 Pro’s battery could be mistaken for a downgrade from its predecessor, with 5,270mAh compared with the 6 Pro’s 5,600mAh. However, the Honor's battery has been expertly optimised, and it is built to last for two full days before requiring a charge. Alongside 80W wireless charging, we were impressed by wired charging capabilities, taking your handset from completely flat to full in less than 35 minutes. It’s also worth mentioning that the slightly smaller battery means the 7 Pro weighs less, coming in at 223g rather than the 6 Pro’s 229g.

Cameras

The Magic 7 Pro’s cameras build on those of its predecessor, the Magic 6 Pro, with an excellent 50MP wide main camera, 50MP ultra main camera and 50MP front camera with 3D capabilities. Powered by the AI Falcon Camera system, each lens works together to create beautifully clear, sharp images. Landscape photos are elevated further by the Magic 7 Pro’s immersive display, letting you line up and edit your shots on the super-sized screen with complete ease.

The telephoto lens has undergone more substantial changes compared to the Honor Magic 6 Pro, upgrading from a 180MP 2.5x optical zoom telephoto camera to a 200MP lens with 3x zoom. AI plays a key part here, too, ensuring you can capture crisp, zoomed-in details even in lower-light conditions.

Impressive cameras deserve an impressive design, and Honor’s stunning circular rear camera suite offers just that. The 1/1.4-inch size makes it one of the biggest telephoto sensors on the market, while the f/2.6 aperture makes also makes it one of the fastest.
