A SIM only deal is a mobile plan offering data, minutes, and texts without including a new handset. It’s perfect if you’re happy with your current phone and want to lower your costs, as SIM only mobile contracts are often much cheaper than pay monthly phone plans. With a SIM only contract, you can choose flexible terms, like a rolling monthly plan, a 12-month contract, or longer.

Yes. It’s simple if you want to keep your number when you sign up to an iD Mobile SIM Only plan on an existing mobile or if you get a new phone. If you're already with us, you can switch your plan from your account and we'll simply update your monthly allowances and your bill from your next billing cycle. You can move up or down to a lower price SIM Only plan as long as you pass the usual eligibility criteria.

If you're not already with iD Mobile, you don't have to call your old mobile phone network to switch. Instead, just text ‘PAC' using your old SIM to 65075. PAC stands for Porting Authorisation Code, and sending us your PAC code will enable us to port (or bring) your old mobile number across to us.

Your old network will send you your PAC code and any information around outstanding penalties, charges or credit due on your account. In addition, if you've completed your minimum contract length with your old provider, they can't charge you for the remainder of your notice period when you switch networks. So, you won't have to pay two bills at once. Just be careful that you're not still in contract or they could levy a fee against you for leaving early.

You can then simply enter your PAC code here when you've got your new iD Mobile SIM Only plan and mobile number. We'll move your number to your new SIM Only plan the next working day if we receive it before 5:30pm Monday - Friday.

A pay monthly SIM only deal has a set monthly fee, giving you a fixed allowance of data, minutes, and texts. Pay as you go SIM only deal, on the other hand, lets you pay only for what you use by topping up as needed - ideal for those wanting flexibility without monthly commitments.

Yes, 5G is available on all iD Mobile SIM only contracts at no additional cost. If your device supports 5G and you’re within coverage, you’ll experience ultra-fast speeds and smoother streaming on your sim only mobile contract with iD. This means no trade-offs; you get the latest connectivity on your SIM only plan, whether for streaming, gaming, or everyday browsing.

Most modern smartphones use Nano SIMs, the smallest type of SIM card. However, some older models may require a Micro or Standard SIM. iD Mobile provides a multi-fit SIM that includes all three sizes, so you’ll have the right fit for your device. If your phone is compatible, you can also opt for an eSIM, a digital SIM that doesn't require a physical card.

Some mobile phone networks lock their phones so that they only accept SIM cards from that network. If your old phone was one purchased on contract from a network, it's much more likely to be locked than if you purchased the phone outright from a retailer.

If your phone is locked to a network, you'll need to unlock it. If you're out of contract but bought the phone from the network, you can usually get it unlocked for free. Simply contact the network and ask them to unlock it. (Even if you eventually move on from your old phone, by unlocking it your phone may well be worth more if you plan to sell it or trade it in against the cost of a new handset).

You can check if your phone is currently locked to a network by removing your existing SIM and inserting a SIM from another network in your phone. If it works and you get a mobile phone signal, it means that your phone is unlocked and you're good to go.

At iD Mobile, we offer 30-day, 12-month and 24-month SIM plans. With a 30-day SIM Only contract, if you wish to end your contract with us after 30-days, you simply need to let us know. The same goes for changing your plan - if you fancy more minutes or need more data, you can change your plan on the iD Mobile App or My Account online.

If you run out of an allowance, you can still keep using, but you'll be charged at out-of-plan rates or up until your bill cap limit. To prevent you from racking up these out-of-plan charges, it's easy to purchase an Add-on of data.

Please note: Add-ons can't be backdated to cover your past usage. They come into effect when they're purchased, and never before.

For a Pay Monthly SIM only deal, you will need to pass a credit check. We'll always ask your permission before we run a credit check and we'll inform you about our decision as soon as possible.

Due to the absence of a handset, SIM Only applications are more likely to pass a credit check than Pay Monthly deals. However, if your application has been declined please don't hesitate to get in touch with our team. We'll try our best to find a solution that works for you.
