Retail Price Index

Everything you need to know about the RPI Increase

What is the Retail Price Index?

The Retail Price Index (RPI) is a measure of inflation, which is the rate at which prices for goods and services are rising. The RPI rate is published by the Office for National Statistics.

How does the RPI affect my iD Mobile plan?

Your monthly line rental cost will be adjusted each April by the RPI rate published in February. Price adjustments do not affect add-ons or additional charges.

For 2024, the RPI rate is +4.9.

Does the 2024 RPI increase apply to me?

The RPI increase will apply if you've upgraded or purchased a new iD Mobile 24-month handset plan on or after 1st May 2022 and before 1st November 2022.

If you are affected by the 2024 price adjustments, you'll receive a text from us in March 2024 confirming the exact adjustment that will be applied to your April 2024 bill onwards.

RPI FAQs

Why is iD adjusting prices?

Every year, most networks adjust their prices for customers as inflation rises. Historically, iD Mobile has implemented the lowest average price adjustments compared to the major networks (EE, Three, O2 and Vodafone).

We appreciate that price adjustments are of concern to consumers and are never welcome. However, inflationary pressure is hitting us all – both as consumers and as businesses, and the cost to operate and sustain our value-focused and highly reliable network is increasing.

Even with annual price adjustments, we always work to deliver value-focused offerings that will help us remain one of the most competitive in the market. Our aim is to continue delivering great service and features to our customers, such as data rollover, UK’s fastest 5G at no extra cost and free Roaming destinations.

How have you calculated the rate of adjustment on my plan?

We've used the RPI rate of 4.9% published in February 2024. This is a measure of the average change in prices for consumers across the country over the last 12 months.

What if I have a discount on my monthly plan?

If you have a discount, it won't change. The price adjustment is applied to your original price plan charge, and your discount is applied afterwards.

What happens if I upgrade to another plan?

You will only get an RPI price adjustment if you've upgraded to a new plan on or after 1st May 2022 and before 1st November 2022. If you've upgraded to a new plan on or after 1st November 2022, you will get a CPI price increase. For more information, click here.

Can I cancel my iD plan?

We’d love you to stay but yes, you can cancel your plan by giving us 30 days' notice. Please note: you may need to pay an early termination charge if you cancel before the end of your contract. You can cancel your plan and check any possible early termination charges in the iD Mobile app.

How can I check my bill?

The RPI adjustment will appear on your April bill. To view your latest bill, login to the free iD Mobile App or visit My Account online, then go to 'Billing', 'Current month'.
